Based on the readings this week and my experience on Evernote, I
would like to use the program in three basic ways in my third grade classroom.
I would use it to organize class notes into a notebook, which would be used as
an interactive notebook, I would have students write and draw on PDF documents
as both assignments and in their interactive notebooks and I would organize
student life and school events on one page to provide students and parents easy
access to information they need to know.
I would like my third grade students to create an online
interactive notebook, where they can add pictures, audio and drawings to notes
in the subjects of math, social studies and science. I think that if they were
able to create and record those pictures, audio and drawings and be able to
refer back to them would be great and they would be very enthusiastic about
that! If I were to implement Evernote, I would first want to start in the
subject of science. In third grade at my school, we are learning about
astronomy, the planets, the elements, geography and plants. I think there would
be a lot of different options and ways for students to get creative on their
interactive notebooks through Evernote.
I would also like to use Evernote to have students write and
draw on PDF documents in class and at home. The PDFs could be used to insert into
their online interactive notebooks and could also be posted to their blogs or
emailed to me to be graded. This could promote the use of technology and also
save paper! This option could also be good in the event of a student being
absent. They would be able to see their assignments and maybe even listen to
audio recordings of the lecture.
To organize student life and school events, I would add voice
notes and take pictures of important events and flyers to post on Evernote and
share with my entire class. It could also be beneficial to post school
newsletters, fundraising forms, forms that need to be signed by a parent and
returned and other housekeeping items that need to be taken care of by the
student.
Evernote
is an online social tool that I would really love to use in my classroom. It
would give my students a wonderful opportunity to use technology and have a
digital record of what they have accomplished this school year.
Jessica,
ReplyDeleteI was impressed with your Evernote link and your enthusiasm for implementing Evernote in third grade. I spent 15 years teaching 3rd grade and I know the rigor involved in that grade level. I am proud of you for stepping up and making science such an exciting class. That is an excellent choice to start, especially with the planets. You could do research, even make a model of a planet, and attach clips and videos. Your documentary was inspiring as well.
Blessings,
Linda
Jessica,
ReplyDeleteI loved all of your ideas! I am a big fan of interactive journals , but it never crossed my mind that I could use it with Evernote. They would definitely be very enthusiastic about having to use the computer. I liked how you would teach them how to edit any PDF's. I could never edit them, which would really frustrate me. I also liked how you would use Evernote as a form of communication. Again using it for that never crossed my mind, since I thought of implementing that in my blog. Love your creativity.
Jessica,
ReplyDeleteI agree with Pattsy and you about the interactive journal. Students can do research on their planets and record their findings on Evernote and also take the screen shots of anything else they can attach to their notes. Also the fact that you can showcase their notes/work that they have done through out the year is an excellent idea. Students can share with each other and cooperate in group projects thru the use of this technology.
Jessica,
ReplyDeleteYou are right about how Evernote provides an amazing opportunity for students to have a digital record of their learning. I like your ideas about creating a notebook to share with students and parents about school events, office hours and parents’ forms. I also think that interactive notebooks are good for students to demonstrate their learning and use technology.
